FAQ
Questions people actually ask
If yours isn't here, the contact page reaches a person.
The basics
What is Brtr?
An app for trading items with people near you. You list what you own, say what you're looking for, and swap. There is no money anywhere in it — no prices, no currency, no checkout.
How is it different from a marketplace?
A marketplace asks what something is worth. Brtr asks whether two people each want the other's thing more than their own. That one change removes pricing, haggling, flipping, and most of the reason to lie in a listing.
Does it cost anything?
No. There is no fee structure, because there is no transaction for a fee to attach to.
What can I trade?
Physical items you own and can hand to someone in person. Not services, not digital goods, and nothing on the prohibited list in the community guidelines.
Trading
What if the two items aren't worth the same?
Then don't trade — or bundle. There's no mechanism to settle a difference in cash, which sounds like a limitation and is actually the point.
Can I trade several items for one?
Yes. An offer can put multiple items on the Offering side against a single item in exchange. Bundles are common.
Can I counter an offer?
Yes, and a counter replaces the previous offer rather than stacking on it — there is only ever one live proposal per thread.
What happens after we agree?
The trade grows a meet-up composer: a place, a date and time, and an optional note. After you've met, you both confirm the outcome and rate each other.
What if someone doesn't show up?
Mark the outcome as "It fell through". Nothing is completed, nobody is rated, and repeated no-shows are visible to us.
Safety & account
Do I need to verify my phone number?
To browse, no. To message anyone or make an offer, yes. It's the single most effective thing we do against throwaway accounts.
Is my phone number visible to other people?
No. Verification is between you and Brtr; other traders see your name, your rating and your completed-trade count.
How do I report someone?
Every listing, thread and profile has a report action. Reports are read by a person. You can also email the safety team directly.
How do I delete my account?
Placeholder — describe the real in-app path and the data-retention window. App stores now require this answer to be easy to find.
Availability
Where does Brtr work?
Placeholder — list the live cities or regions. Brtr opens neighbourhood by neighbourhood, because a trading app is only as good as the ten kilometres around you.
When is it coming to my city?
Join the waitlist and we'll email you when there's enough activity nearby to be worth opening. That's the only email you'll get.
Is there a web version?
Not yet. Brtr is an iOS and Android app; this site is where you find out about it.
Which languages does it support?
English and Arabic, with full right-to-left layout.
